The 30-year-old power forward has not played since Chelsea’s Champions League final defeat in the hands of Manchester United on 21 May.

The Ivory Coast international turned out for Chelsea’s reserves in a 3-2 win over Arsenal, and appeared to come through the triumph, intact.

Drogba set up a goal in the first half and was replaced by youngster Fabio Paim in the 58th minute. Drogba who was linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge during the summer, with AC Milan stating they were interested in signing the player said he is ready to begin his season.

Drogba will return to the Chelsea side after the international break for the game against Manchester City on 13 September.
