A host of clubs across Europe have embarked on a Stephen Appiah rush. The Ghana captain is on the ‘A’ list of Arsenal, Portsmouth and West Ham all rumoured to be trailing the 27-year-old, who has expressed great desire to play in England saying it would be a “dream come true”.

West Ham spokesman has confirmed that discussions with the midfielder are ongoing. However, Appiah’s long ties with Arsenal could prompt Arsene Wenger to counter West Ham’s move.

Appiah is available on a free transfer after parting company with Fenerbahce earlier this summer. The former Juventus star could possible be the most wanted player post transfer season.

Meanwhile, Milovan Rajevac, Ghana coach has defended his decision to invite the Black Stars captain to the team ahead of Friday’s world cup qualifier against Libya. “Stephen Appiah is really big player. It’s very important to be with rest all the players here as a leader” he said, stressing on the importance of Appiah’s presence in the team.

Also on the hunt list of Europe’s finest clubs is South African star Quinton Fortune, former Manchester United man. The South African wants to make a come back after been slowed down by injury the past few years, and is currently on the wish lists of Portsmouth and Ipswich. His versatility as a potential midfielder and defender is a definite advantage.
