The 25-year-old Angolan forward, Manucho, whose three-year contract with Manchester United last December came under threat when he failed to get an official British clearance and was therefore loaned on a three-month term to Panathinaikos, Greece, can now heave a sigh of relief after finally been issued a UK work permit.

‘He’s got a little injury at the moment but we’re looking forward to him getting fit and showing us what he can do; he’s a great prospect,’ Manchester United chairman, David Gill commented.

Manucho was instrumental in the near success of the Angolan national team, the Palancas Negras, during the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations which took place in Ghana. His total of four goals helped the Palancas Negras of Angola progress to the quarter-finals.

Talking to MUTV, Chief executive of United said ‘When we looked at the rules we found that he qualified for a work permit automatically,’

The Angolan forward will be playing alongside Dimitar Berbatov, Christiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez. Meanwhile, the departures of Fraizer Campbell to Tottenham and Louis Saha to Everton is expected to allow him the needed space for a formidable season.
