We spend a third of our life sleeping… and a great deal more time when we are very young.

A newborn baby in fact sleeps an average of 16 hours a day!

Up to the age of 4 months, waking periods for feeding and the different phases of sleep follow the rhythm of an internal biological clock.

Between 4 and 6 months, babies follow a day and night pattern of sleep, and by the age of 3 a child needs 12 hours sleep each night.

In adolescence, 9 hours sleep a night is the rule.

It is recommended that young children should take an afternoon nap just after lunch up to the age of 5 or 6, as this is beneficial to their development.

And after the age of 6, it is absolutely essential that your child be in bed asleep by no later than 9 o’clock.
