Congo hosts first African computer engineering exhibition

Congolese capital, Brazzaville, will between 10-12 April, host the first African software engineering exhibition, dubbed Salon Genilog 2008, with the theme “Businesses and Computer engineering,” an official source disclosed,Thursday.

The exhibition is being organised by the company service and engineering Intech with the support of the Congolese Computer Office(OCI).

It seeks to promote software products and services developed by African companies to foster the emergence of endogenous development solutions for a software industry and technological services.

Described as a carrier of high and added value, the software development activity is one of the keys for the success and competitiveness of local companies in regional integration.

Ii is aimed among other things, at contributing to consolidating the national economic growth rate to combat poverty through the setting up of companies.

The exhibition will afford opportunity to set up partnerships between companies, while boosting the already existing relationship between the public and private sectors.

“The first contribution of the partnership with the private sector, which we are planning, will involve the posting and creation of websites, almost free of charge, to all press organisations that do not have online data,” the managing director of Congo’s information systems engineering, Gemme Dauny Tondo said.

The exhibition is an opportunity for ICT companies in the Central African sub-region in general and in Congo in particular to develop and attract investors. Panapress.
