President Umaru Yar’Adua is becoming a sweet song on the lips of Nigerians especially amongst the natives of the Niger Delta.
Following the creation of a ministry for the Niger Delta and other new ministries, in an attempt to bring peace and stability to the Oil producing region of the country, the president has received ovations from all political and social factions of country, even amongst top government personnel.
Secretary to the Government of Rivers State, Mr Magnus Abe, amongst other officials to commend the president said that the decision of the Federal Government is a very positive development for the Niger Delta and it is a thing of joy for all genuine lovers of peace and development in the area.
The natives of the Niger Delta said they have always agitated for development and fair participation in the wealth of the country which they had contributed so much to and were glad the government under Umaru Yar’Adua has come to wipe their tears.
It is reported that the construction of East-West road and the Bodo-Bonny roads that are funded by the Federal Government would soon be completed as part of the government’s efforts to open the region for development.
