Ghana book their place in the final of the African Cup of Nations after beating Nigeria (1-0).

Ghana progress to the final of the Africa Cup of Nations thanks to an Asamoah Gyan goal. The Super Eagles were shot down by the young Black Stars.

In a rematch of the 2008 quarter final, Ghana only need one goal to go through against west African rivals Nigeria.

A Gyan goal sends a depleted Black Stars squad into the final. The Rennes striker was the hero of the quarter final 1-0 win over Angola and did it again in the next round.

A powerful header from Gyan, solid performances from Ghana keeper Richard Kingson and his defence kept Nigeria from capitalising on some solid second-half pressure.

It will be Ghana’s first Nations Cup final appearance since 1992.

The Super Eagles only have themselves to blame: Nigeria had the firepower and the chances to level up but none of the strikers could beat Kingson. Yakubu, Martins or Odemwingie found themselves facing a wall.

Ghanaian fans sat on a time bomb throughout the last 45 minutes but striker Obafemi Martins wasted several chances that could have given Nigerians the lead. After a poor match, the baby Black Stars booked their seat for the final day.

CAN 2010  It’s time to see who the contenders are: who’s going to win and who’s not, who’s going to upset a few teams… January 10-31, Angola is the place to be for football fans!
