Ghanaian midfield dynamo Sulley Muntari has been given a three-match ban after seeing red in what was just his second League game for Inter.

The Ghanaian struck a Catania midfielder Giacomo Tedesco in the face and was instantly dismissed by referee Antonio Damato.

The Ghana international will therefore miss the epic Serie A clash against arch rivals AC Milan on 28 September. He will also not be available when they take on Torino and Lecce.

Inter Milan under the management of Jose Mourinho have contested Muntari’s red card, but the Italian Football League (IFL) insist that Muntari is guilty.

Muntari who was guilty of hitting the player in the face and causing him an injury in the mouth has agreed to take the ban claiming he had let his passion get in the way of his discipline. Even though he had hit the player while the ball was not in play, Muntari insists it was in the spirit of the midfield battle with the Catania midfielder, which he regrets.
