Playing God in Uganda
Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni is pushing a bill that would impose the death penalty on HIV positive gay men. The Anti-Homosexuality Bill 2009 seeks to impose the death penalty on gay men who are HIV-positive for “aggravated homosexuality”. In Uganda today, homosexuality is already a crime punishable by a prison life term. This proposed law would not just condemn HIV positive gay men and "repeat offenders" to death, it would also jail for three years anyone who knows a gay man but refuses to report them to the authorities. In addition to that, anyone who defends gay rights in public will be sentenced to seven years in prison.

Uganda: Gays, HIV+ people will be killed, sympathisers jailed - Parjanya
Am from a India and while I agree that one country should not interfere with another's internal affairs, certain humanitarian situations demand that other countries raise a voice of protest. Queer people in any country are as much a part of society as anybody else. State Sponsored violence against them is as condemnable an act as the erstwhile trans-Atlantic Slave trade. And 'culture' is not a historical constant, it re-defines itself over time. Shame on such a Government and such barbarism! - Tuesday 9 March 2010 - 04:11

Uganda: Gays, HIV+ people will be killed, sympathisers jailed - Richard Slate
It is a pity that people are ready to kill in the name of God; that one man looks at another and says, "you've got to go b'cuz you are a lesser human being"; that humans have become animals ready to pounce on each other for reasons understood by their own criminal instincts; that a gov't charged with the protection of it's peoples decides to kill them. Africans are understanding and loving people, with a rich culture that accepts diversity. They're not savages! Thou shalt not kill. God help us! - Saturday 5 December 2009 - 16:52

Uganda: Gays, HIV+ people will be killed, sympathisers jailed - Ugandan
The law is meant to restore the cultural values, virtues and norms of Ugandans which homosexuality is targeting, especially among children. (Stop blaming Christians) ....Muslims, Hindus, African traditionalists...all support this law... We, Ugandans know and believe that homosexuality involves practices that are dangerous and high risk to the human body which is designed for heterosexual functions.Uganda is willing to fight the spread of this abomination. Now if only the WEST would follow - Saturday 5 December 2009 - 04:09
