Libya - Nigeria
Nigerians have reacted to Libyan leader Col. Muammar Gaddafi’s call on the Nigerian state to split on religions lines following the conflicts between Christians and Muslims in the middlebelt city of Jos that began in 2001. The Libyan leader blamed the problem on the British and cited India and Pakistan as an example of a religious split that has saved many lives. - Wednesday 17 March 2010

There were three times Ann Njogu considered quitting her work in human rights activism in Kenya. The first was when a woman walked into her office so badly beaten by her husband that her head and face were swollen to the size of a huge pumpkin. Njogu and her organization successfully had the husband arrested, only to have the woman’s mother drop the charges when the community threatened to burn down the mother’s house in retribution. - Tuesday 16 March 2010

Influential Muslim group have joined forces with African Union troops to wage war on al-Qaeda-linked al-Shabab military group in Somalia. The Ahlu Sunna Wal Jamaa group signed the military alliance in the African Union head quarters in Ethiopia. - Tuesday 16 March 2010

At least 100 youth leaders from 24 African countries are meeting at the Lukenya Gateway camp from 15th -19th March 2010 to discuss new tools and effective strategies of youth participation in democracy and governance in Africa. - Monday 15 March 2010

Whilst blacks were being oppressed by apartheid in South Africa, the liberty of whites was being compromised by the measures necessary to suppress the aspirations of their fellow citizens (actually non citizens). - Monday 15 March 2010

Zimbabwe - France
Total (Zimbabwe), a French registered oil company is being investigated for allegedly refusing to sell some of its expansive asserts to black businesspeople in a bid to retain it monopoly. This comes as black oil players seek to take advantage of recently gazetted controversial empowerment regulations that compels foreigners to sell 51 percent stakes. - Monday 15 March 2010

Ugandan President, Yoweri Museveni, has revealed that at least five Ugandan soldiers are executed through firing squad every year after being found guilty of killing civilians. The President has also invited his critics to launch complaints against him at the International Criminal Court. - Monday 15 March 2010
