Nigerian bourse enjoys 11 billion in investments

Investors at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) Monday staked 11.007 billion naira on 611.5 million shares in 17,589 deals.

Market capitalisation opened with 11.6 trillion naira ,while the all-share index closed at 60,122.77 points.

The banking sub-sector led on the activity chart, measured by turnover volume with 259.6 million shares, valued at 6.494 billion naira in 7,676 deals.

The shares of Afribank Nigeria Plc, United Bank for Africa (UBA)Plc and Skye Bank Plc boosted the activity in the sub-sector.

Insurance sub-sector followed on the activity chart with a turn-over of 178.5 million shares worth 677.2 million naira traded in 3,415 deals.

Universal Insurance Company Plc, Cornerstone Insurance Plc and LASACO Insurance Plc were the stocks that boosted the activity in the sub-sector.

The food/beverages and tobacco sub-sector came a distance third on the activity chart with 14.06 million shares worth 449.9 million naira traded in 1,599 deals.

Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc, Dangote Flour Mills Plc and Big Treat Plc were the most traded shares in the sub-sector which also boosted the activity there.

Mobil Oil Nig Plc led the gainers’ table with N14.99 to close at N314.97, Ecobank Transnational Incorporated followed with a gain of N11.90 to close at N249.90 per share and United African Company of Nigeria (UACN) with N2.60 to close at N54.62.

On the losers’ table, Oando Plc led with N9.87 to close at N221.13, WAPCO Plc followed with a loss of N3.15 to close at 59.85 and Costain (West Africa), Plc N2.61 to close at N49.64.
