Security Council meets over Sudan rebel attack

An emergency meeting of Sudan National Security Council, chaired by President Omar Al-Bashir, with First Vice – President Salva Kiir in attendance, Sunday noon directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to adopt the required measures regarding “the terrorist sabotage attempt.”

The meeting also instructed the ministries of interior and justice to “pursue the rebel leaders who participated in the latest incidents inside Sudan and internationally.”

Meanwhile, the Sudan Armed Forces Sunday killed Jamal Hassan Jala-Eddin, the commander of the rebel Justice and Equality Movement, Sudan National News Agency (SUNA) said, quoting an authorised source of the Sudan Armed Forces.

The source said the armed forces fought with the rebels at 50 kilometers far from western Omdurman and completely eradicated all the 45 men of the rebel force, after pursuing them for hours.

More than 300 rebels were arrested up to Sunday in different locations in Omdurman, the news agency said, stressing that the armed forces has destroyed 30 trucks belonging to the rebels who were running away from West Omdurman area.
