The death of the two soldiers was confirmed by sources close to the Regional Hospital of Ziguinchor, indicating that two injured soldiers were admitted into the intensive care unit.

“One of our patrols operating in the Djibidione area for the past few days to secure the people and their goods was attacked by armed individuals who opened fire on them,” the communication officer of the South Military Zone, Lieutenant Malamine Camara, said.

He added that the army discovered several fields of Indian hemp in the area.
