A delegation from the US Republican party Monday rounded off a short visit to Kigali as part of a global campaign to fight poverty and epidemics, the US Embassy in Rwanda has revealed in a statement.
The delegation was led by Cindy McCain, wife of Republican candidate for the November presidential poll John McCain.
It visited various development projects funded by the US in Rwanda, the Embassy said, noting that the visit was not publicized for security reasons.
Before leaving Kigali, the delegation laid a wreath at the Gisozi Memorial, where the remains of some 250,000 victims of the 1994 genocide in Rwanda are buried.
