Funds donated by some Nigerians in support of the United States Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Barrack Obama, have been ceased by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The economic and financial crime commission has revealed that N74.1 million was raised for the project by ‘Africa for Obama Campaign’ led by the Director-General of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), Prof. Ndidi Okereke-Onyuike.

The commission said yesterday that once the contributors were fully cleared by their office for financial crimes, the money would be returned to the individuals who made the contributions.

It is reported that the Obama campaign organisation in the U.S. later in a statement dissociated itself from the Africa for Obama boss venture, which many Nigerians had criticised.
