A British school in Nigeria has seized a a Ghana’s City Link Aviation helicopter, asking for US$100,000 ransom. The school’s authorities claim the helicopter made an unauthorised landing in the school’s premises, the local press reported Monday.

The helicopter, scheduled to transport a Nigerian singer from one part of the city to another, landed within the premises of the British International School in Lekki on Friday due to construction work at the designated point.

Though the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority and the State Security Service reportedly cleared the pilot and his helicopter to take off, the school authorities insisted the aircraft would not leave until the pilot has paid US$100,000.

While Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority said the issue had been resolved, it confirmed the helicopter had yet to be released by the school authorities.
