Reports emanating from Abuja, Nigeria claim that Mr. Emmanuel Olutokunbo Enaboifo who was convicted by a US court, for attempting to defraud the Philadelphia Savings Fund Society (PSFS) of a huge sum of money has been appointed as the Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Nigeria – Sao Tome and Principe Joint Development Authority.

He had been expelled from Temple University in Philadelphia for alleged fraudulent activities while on campus, prior to his arrest on 8 August, 1986.

The said Mr. Enaboifo disappeared in 1986 following his connection with criminal offence- a two-count charge of aiding and abetting bank fraud. In 2004, eighteen years after his disappearance, the case was reopened. He was sentenced in absentia and declared wanted by the US Secret Service.

His appointment by Nigerian president Mr. Umaru Yaradua has raised eyebrows and his intentions for the country has thus been questioned. Observers have called this a dirty act of politics that shows no regard for the Nigerian people.

Mr. Enaboifo was the chief logistics officer of the president Yaradua’s campaign team and his appointment is said to be a form of compensation for his role during Yaradua’s campaign. Observers say that Mr. Enaboifo does not even possess any qualification for the job.
