Reports reaching Afrik-news.com from Zimbabwe claim that the country’s new Prime Minister, Morgan Tsvangirai has survivied a car crush but Susan, his wife, was killed in Harare today.
Susan Tsvangirai was travelling with her husband when the crash happened in the afternoon.
MDC spokesman Nelson Chamisa says Tsvangirai was not in a critical condition but was immediately transferred to a clinic in the capital, Harare.
“We have just heard that there was an accident of sorts involving the president of the party. Injuries, yes, but not critical condition, we are still assessing the actual condition,” he said.
They where on their way to their rural home when his vehicle is said to have been involved in a crash near Beatrice.
Their car is said to have had a head on collision with a lorry.
His wife Susan, whom he married in 1978, is survived by six children.
Police had not issued a statement by 6 pm Friday but foul play can not be ruled out.
