Trimega Laboratories to Remain Invested in South Africa After Cape High Court Victory

UK-based businessman Avi Lasarow has confirmed that he and his company Trimega Laboratories will remain invested in South Africa after his victory at the Cape High Court against local business partner Ashely Uys

UK-based businessman Avi Lasarow has confirmed that he and his company Trimega Laboratories will remain invested in South Africa after his victory at the Cape High Court against local business partner Ashely Uys.

Yesterday the court made final an interdict brought by Lasarow against Uys and his company Real World Diagnostics, his partner in drug and alcohol testing firm Trimega Diagnostics. The ruling awarded with costs to Lasarow prevents Uys and his company from using intellectual property belonging to Trimega Diagnostics. The court found overwhelmingly in Lasarow’s favor and found that Uys had acted in breach of his fiduciary duties as a director of Trimega Diagnostics.

“Through the creation of Trimega Diagnostics with Ashely Uys, I sought to invest positively in South Africa and in a young man who I still believe has much potential,” said Trimega Laboratories owner Avi Lasarow. “Mr. Uys’ actions to profit individually by using the intellectual property of Trimega Diagnostics were not only illegal but also deeply upsetting to me personally. I am pleased, however, with the court’s decision which proves that South Africa enjoys a robust judiciary and as such, I remain committed to investing in South Africa.”

Trimega Diagnostics continues to work with a number of high profile clients supplying drug and alcohol testing services.

Lasarow has confirmed that it is his intention to sever all business ties with Uys.
