Genesis Press–the nation’s oldest and largest romance publishing company geared toward an African-American audience–releases FIXIN TYRONE. Keith Walker, the book’s author, is the self-professed “master of romantic suspense and urban fiction. I wrote this book for women, mainly,” says Walker. ” I have always been somewhat of a sensitive brother and I have a lot of empathy for nearly every situation. I hope that my readers learn that true love is important. It may not conquer all, but sometimes it is worth fighting for.” FIXIN TYRONE, says Walker, is “one woman’s struggle to find peace and fulfillment in a life that seemed to be flowing perfectly until her son’s thuggish father is released from prison.”
Tanya Wright, who plays Kenya on the HBO hit TRUE BLOOD adapted and directed the three minute video from the book. It depicts “every single woman’s worst nightmare,” says Wright. Mia, the book’s protagonist, discovers a secret about the man she thinks is the love of her life “that puts her in a whole heap of hot water,” says Wright. The video ends in a cliffhanger, leading viewers back to the Genesis Press website where they can read the book and find out what happens next.
Walker’s book is available at Barnes and Noble, Borders, Amazon.com and via the Genesis Press website. His next release–HOW TO KILL YOUR HUSBAND–will be available in stores June 2010. Wright just completed her feature film directorial debut from her screenplay, BUTTERFLY RISING. BUTTERFLY RISING is a road trip movie about two women who go to meet a mythical medicine man named Lazarus of the Butterflies.
