Côte d’Ivoire: UNOCI’s Ghanaian battalion donates food to orphanage in Bondoukou

The Ghanaian battalion of the United Nations Operation in Côte d’Ivoire (UNOCI) based in Bondoukou, on Tuesday, donated food to Hellas orphanage in the town.

By making this donation, the 12th battalion wanted to give the children and the nuns in Hellas orphanage the opportunity to start the Christian fasting period under good conditions. It coincided with the celebration of Mardi Gras at the orphanage, during which, Sister Adjasso Sagou Agnès, head of the orphanage highlighted UNOCI’s kind gesture to the children.

Speaking on behalf of Lt. Col James Hagan, commander of the 12th Ghanbatt, Lieutenant Lokko, the army chaplain, said that the donation was to show that UNOCI was attentive to the needs of the population, especially children. “Through this food donation, we want to encourage you in your work to take better care of the children,” he said.

The Ghanaian battalion based in Bondoukou and Bouna regularly provides free medical consultations to the local population.
