Egypt: Roundtable discussion: Balady bread fortification boosts the Egyptian economy

A UN World Food Programme (WFP) study says the government program to fortify baladi bread with iron and folic acid will reduce national health and economic burdens by millions of pounds every year.

WFP is organizing on Tuesday, 4 May 2010 a roundtable discussion on the findings of the study at the Cairo Marriott Hotel, Eugenie Hall from 02:45 p.m. to 04:00 p. m.

Minister of Social Solidarity H.E. Dr. Ali Moselhi and the Director of the National Nutrition Institute Dr. Azza Gohar will open the session. The Secretary General of the Red Crescent Society Professor Mamdouh Gabr will discuss the findings and present recommended policies.

The main findings of the study will be presented by its authors: Vice President of Cairo University Professor Heba Nassar and International Nutrition Expert, Mr. Jack Bagriansky.
