Grammy Awards sparks ire of music exec

This year’s Grammy Awards pissed off just about everyone minus Esperanza Spalding, but while the industry tweeted their disappointment, top seed industry veteran Steve Stoute recently pulled out his blow horn.

In an open letter published in today’s New York Times the man responsible for Rihanna’s, Jay-Z’s and Lebron James’ unstoppably successful brand empires expressed his dismay at the Grammy Awards’ committee for being biased against pop artists when it comes to awards, yet exploiting their popularity for show ratings when it comes to performances. Stoute also called out the committee for using their peer voting system as a means of rationalizing suspect winners.
