Mauritanian police arrests 3 alleged terrorists

At least three people, close to the Salafist mov ement in Mauritania, were arrested this weekend by the police, Mauritanian newsp a per, Al-Akhbar, reported Sunday, police sources told PANA Sunday. The arrests, confirmed by the security services, involved individuals and foreig ners having ties with young Mauritanians close to terrorist circles, the sources noted. However, the Mauritanian security services have not established a formal link be tween the people arrested and the alleged authors of the attack that killed four French to urists 24 December in Aleg, 260 kilometres south-east of Nouakchott. Extradited from Guinea-Bissau 11 January, two of the alleged authors of the murd er are currently in custody.
