The floodlights at the Sekondi stadium went out Monday night, throwing the pitch into darkness and delaying the start of the second group B match between the Squirrels of Benin and the Eagles of Mali for several minutes at the current Africa Cup of Nations football tournament in Ghana according to Panapress. The lights went out shortly after the national anthems of the two nations were played in readiness of the match. Despite the floodlights failure, the stadium was not thrown into total darkness as the stands remained lit all through the incident. The floodlights were restored just a little over 10 minutes for the match to get underway
