Biological cotton growing programme in Mali

Malian economic experts and a French NGO, called the “Association Bretagne internationale”, say they will institute a biological cott on growing programme within the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) , official sources told PANA Tuesday here in Bamako. According to the experts, Mali will the first country to host the programme wh ich is aimed at contributing to the resolution of the crisis the cotton sub-sect o r is experiencing. They said the programme would also ensure a stable and more lucrative income f or the sub-region’s cotton growers. Mali, which produces between 500,000 and 600,000 tonnes of cotton per year, feat ures among the biggest producers of the cash crop in Africa.
