The Nigeria Football Association (NFA) has received the green light to fire Super Eagles’ head coach, following the team’s quarter-final elimination from the 26th Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana, local football website Kickoffnigeria reported Monday. The report said the NFA would sack the 61-year-old coach Tuesday morning, one week after its (NFA) board passed a vote of confidence on the coach. Kickoffnigeria reported that the FA had received the go ahead to sack Vogts from the Sports Minister as well as well as the Nigerian telecommunications company Globacom, which is paying the 50,000-dollar per month salary for the coach. Vogts was signed on last year to take the Super Eagles to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa Nigerians have demanded the coach be fired over the team’s poor show in Ghana, where it scored only three goals in 360 minutes of play.
