Gambia’s immigration out-laws roadside begging

Gambia’s Immigration Department has issued a strong warning against begging near roadside, saying; anyone found “begging near the traffic will face the full force of the law,” a press communique’ from the department revealed Tuesday. According to the West African country’s immigration officials, beggars always loiter around busy traffic areas, thereby disturbing motorists and obstructing traffic. “This is unacceptable and anybody found doing it will be charged for obstructing traffic,” the release stated. The department further threatened non-Gambians with deportation if they are found wanting in connection with the practice, which violates Gambia’s traffic rules .
