More than 500 illegal migrants arrested in Morocco

The search operations launched by the Moroccan authorities against illegal migration have led to the arrest of more than 500 illegal migrants, the majority of whom came from Sub-Saharan Africa, official source told PANA Wednesday here. “This number was for the operation covering from 1 to 6 February alone,” a release from the Interior ministry said. In 2007, the Moroccan authorities foiled attempts by 10,200 illegal migrants to get illegally to Spain. The operations have also led to the breaking up of 260 traffic networks of mig rants. More than 8,383 illegal Sub-Saharans migrants were repatriated between 2004 and 2007, official sources said.
