US President George Bush is due in Kigali on 19 February for a brief visit to Rwanda as part of an African tour, Rwandan State Secretary on Co-operation, Rosemary Museminali announced on Tuesday. “We are proud to welcome the US head of state on Rwandan soil,” she told reporters, noting that the visit is part of efforts to enhance the bilateral co-operation between the two countries. “This visit of President Bush to Rwanda is also a sign of recognition for Rwanda that contributes to various peacekeeping missions in the sub-region and everywhere in the world,” Museminali said. A source close to the US Embassy in Kigali said the agenda of this visit was being kept secret for security reasons.
