Ten bodies have been pulled out of the rubble of the two-storey building which collapsed in Nigeria’s commercial city of Lagos Wednesday, rescue workers said. But what is being described as a ‘miracle’ by the local press occurred Thursday when a day-old baby was rescued from the rubble. The picture of the ‘lucky baby’ was splashed on the front pages of some local newspapers Friday. Heavy duty earth moving equipment were brought to the scene of the collapsed building in Lagos Island Thursday to raise the tempo of the rescue operation. Several deaths have been recorded from collapsed buildings in Lagos and other parts of the country in recent times.
