Italy gives 100,000 euros to flood victims in Zambia

The Italian government has given Zambia 100,000 euros to help flood victims in Zambia, the Italian Embassy here said in a statement. The statement, signed by the First Secretary at the Embassy, Valerio Parmigiani, said Italy’s contribution was in response to the emergency situation caused by to heavy rains and flash floods that have damaged infrastructure and crops. Parmigiani explained that the donation was made through the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the World Food Programme (WFP) to deliver emergency food aid assistance to the affected victims in Zambia. Pargigiani said the WFP project, aimed at providing nutritional support to the victims, would pay particular attention to special categories of people such as those affected by HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis, orphans and vulnerable children in community schools.
