Etoile wins CAF Super Cup

African champion Etoile du Sahel beat CS Sfaxien 2-1 in an all-Tunisian match Saturday at the El-Menzah Stadium in Rades, Tunisia, to win the CAF Super Cup. According to CAF, Armine Chermiti’s two goals in the 5th and 47th minutes gave victory to Etoile. Unfortunately, Chermiti, who was voted Tunisia’s best footballer of the year 2007 on Friday, bagged the red card in the second half for a tough challenge on a Sfaxien midfielder. Sfaxien scored its goal in the 28th minute through Ghanaian-born striker Opoku Agyemang. It was the second time Etoile, one of few clubs to have won all the club competitions, would win the Super Cup after grabbing the title in 1998. The CAF Super Cup is played between the reigning champions of the Confederation Cup and the Champions League. Al Ahly of Egypt won the last edition, after beating Etoile 5-4 on penalties following a barren regulation time play. Panapress
