A team of British soldiers and police officers are currently in Banjul, Gambia, concluding a training programme for members of the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) and the Police Force (GPF) who are preparing to embark on a UN/African Union (AU) Hybrid Mission to Darfur (UNAMID) in April, official sources revealed Thursday. The 16-member team from the “British Military Advisory and Training” and the “Royal Gibraltar Regiment” are helping Gambian security “to deliver peace support operations and pre-deployment training”. Some 500 Gambian soldiers and police officers were said to have been lectured on issues relating to tasks and techniques of peace support, self defence among others. Panapress
