Isaac Kwakye Gyimah of Opoku Ware Senior High School set a new record in the Discus event at the Ashanti Regional Schools and Colleges Athletics competition holding in Kumasi, Ghana. Gyimah threw the disc to a new record of 41.42 metres, erasing the six-year-old record of 40.95 metres, previously held by Raphael Kubartey of the same school. In the overall standings, Opoku Ware came first with 127.5 points to win the com petition after they put up a brilliant performance in the 100m, 5000m and 1500m a s well as in the 4×100m relay event. Aduman Senior High School placed second with 67 points while Kumasi Senior High School and Nkawie Secondary/Technical School placed third and fourth respectively with 61.5 points and 58 points. In the Girls events, Yaa Asantewaa Senior High School amassed 110.5 points to place first ahead of Dompoase Senior High School in second place with 69 points.
