Nigerian security agencies have launched a massive search for the German construction worker who was kidnapped in the oil city of Port Harcourt Tuesday. No group has claimed responsibility for the abduction, the latest in an upsurge in kidnappings in the restive oil region. The German, who works for the construction firm Julius Berger, was abducted while inspecting the ongoing dualisation at East-West highway at Rumuji, near the city by gunmen dressed in military uniform. The gunmen killed one of the soldiers who escorted him and wounded another, according to the spokesman for the military task force deployed to the area to protect oil facilities and personnel, Lt.-Col Sagir Musa.
