A news report monitored on Gambia Radio and Television Services Thursday afternoon said, one Alhagie Samboujang Dibba of Bundung Serrekunda collapsed Tuesday, while approaching President Yahya Jammeh from a distance. The news report stated further the President tried to help the man regain consciousness but was later pronounced dead. The President, who was on an unscheduled visit to assess the state of facilities and infrastructure within the tourism industry, saw the late Dibba coming and when the security men tried to stop the man, Jammeh told them to leave him alone. In an interview shortly after the incident, Jammeh said he had spotted the man at a distance and knew his intentions were motivated by hate, but that he was better prepared for any eventuality.
