The Nigerian Army has appointed Brig.-Gen. Emeka Onwuamaegbu as its new spokesman, following the death of the former spokesman, Brig.-Gen. Solomon Giwa-Amu, in a road crash 18 February 2008. Brig.-Gen Onwuamaegbu, a regular combatant infantry officer and a licensed pilot, previously served as the Army spokesman from 18 February 2002 to August 2004. Until his new appointment, he was the Commander, 13 Brigade, Nigerian Army, in the South-eastern city of Calabar. The new Army spokesman, who is 49 years old, holds two Masters Degrees in International Business and General Concentration.
