Some 38 illegal immigrants from sub-Saharan Africa were Monday night repatriated from the Mauritanian port City of Nouadhibou to their home countries, the Mauritanian News Agency, AMI, reported Tuesday. Those repatriated included 20 Malians and 18 Senegalese. They were among 62 illegal immigrants of various nationalities who were recently arrested by the national police in various districts in the Nouadhibou city. Due to its geographical position, the Mauritanian port city of Nouadhibou has become an important transit point for illegal immigration from sub-Saharan Africa to Canary Islands in the Spanish archipelago.
