A six-year-old girl, who was kidnapped in Nigeria’s oil city of Port Harcourt on Monday, has been freed unharmed, the police said Wednesday. The spokesperson for the Rivers state police command, Ireju Barasua, said the girl, identified as Pretea, was freed Wednesday night. Barasua did not say if any ransom was paid for the release of the girl, who was abducted while being taken to school in the Rivers capital. Some 11 children were among the 350 people who were kidnapped in the Niger Delta in the past year. Most of the kidnappings are carried out by groups seeking to extort money, in form of ransom, from the relatives or employers of the abducted persons. Panapress
