Nigeria has started the release food grains from its strategic food reserve for sale to the public at half the market price, to cushion the effect of rising foot cost of foodstuffs in Africa’s most populous nation. Agriculture and Water Resources Minister Sayyadi Abba Ruma flagged off the process in the capital city of Abuja Wednesday, saying the release would ameliorate the poverty rate and reduce malnutrition among Nigerians. The prices at which the commodities, including Maize, Sorghum, Millet and Garri, are to be sold were listed to avoid unscrupulous persons cashing in on the release to make money. Panapress.
