
The second session of the Economic, Social and Cultural Council (CESC) of the Sahel-Saharan States Community (CEN-SAD) will run from Wednesday to Friday, official sources said, Tuesday. The meeting, which groups delegates of 21 African members of CEN-SAD, will discuss “Water in CEN-SAD countries: expectations and needs of the people”. With headquarters in the Malian capital, CESC is meant to assist CEN-SAD organ s to implement their economic, social and cultural policies, plans and programmes. It meets once a year in ordinary session, but it may meet in extraordinary session at the request of the current chair of the organisation, the chairman of the CESC or a member state. CEN-SAD was set up 4 February 1998 in Tripoli, Libya, at the initiative of Moham mar Kadhafi. Mali, Chad, Niger, Sudan and Burkina Faso are the founding members of the organisation. Panapress.
