Mauritanian Crafts and Tourism Minister Ba Madine and her Tuinisian counterpart, Khalil Ajibi, have signed a convention aimed at boosting cooperation between the two countries in the area of tourism, official sources said on Friday. Under the new agreement, signed Thursday, Tunisia pledges to assist the Mauritanian tourist industry in the area of training and human resources. Tunisia will also give grants to Mauritanian internship students. The convention also provides for the sharing of expertise in hotel management, organisation of joint events (trade fairs), regular control and ranking of tourist facilities. Tunisia will assist Mauritania in its effort to set up a tourist development agency, whose mission will be land management, development and marketing of tourist resorts, and the creation of a specialised joint venture in the area of tourism.
