About 556 officers of the Gambian police have been promoted to various ranks by the Police High command here, according to Inspector Saluymann Secka, the Public Relation Officer of the Gambia Police Force. Secka told reporters Thursday that the exercise was part of the initiative put in place by the Gambian Inspector General of Police, Benedict Jammeh.
According to him, 38 officers were promoted to the rank of Chief Inspectors, 79 to Inspectors, 39 to Sub Inspectors, 144 to Sergeants and 256 constables were promoted corporals. He pointed out that the promotions were based on merits and dedication to the fo rce and to the community at large, adding that Inspector General Jammeh had put a new mechanism in place to boost the morals of the force.
