Seven students of the state polytechnic in Umuagwu, Nigeria’s South-east Imo state, died Monday while several others were wounded in a multi-vehicular accident at the gate of the institution, the local press reported. The accident involved a truck, which lost control and smashed into a bus, a taxi and a motorcycle conveying students to the school. Six of the students died on the spot while the seventh died while being rushed to the hospital. The accident triggered a riot by students of the institution, who set ablaze the truck and the bus.
