Benin starts electoral campaign for municipal elections

Benin’s Autonomous National Electoral Commission (CENA) Wednesday officially launched the electoral campaign for for municipal elections fixed for 20 April. In a declaration on radio and television, CENA Chairman Pascal Todjinou underscored the need for all to preserve social peace throughout the 10-day campaign period. The campaign kicked off amid a rather tense atmosphere, with the president Boni Yayi’s supporters threatening to boycott the poll over the refusal of the commission to postpone it. Panapress.
