Mauritania’s national football squad, The Moura bitounes, has qualified for the second round of the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) qualifier exclusively reserved for local players, following a 0-0 tie here Saturday against Gambia.
The Mourabitounes qualified on away goals advantage following a first-leg 1-1 dr aw in Banjul, the capital of Gambia. For the next round, Mauritania is in the same group as Guinea, Cape Verde, Guine a-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Senegal and Sierra Leone. The first edition of the Africa cup of Nations (CAN), reserved for home-based pl ayers, will be held in Cote d’Ivoire in February 2009. Panapress.
