Deadly plane crash in Democratic Republic of Congo

A Hewa Bora Airways DC-9 jet crashed in Goma Eastern Congo yesterday during takeoff. The plane, on a domestic flight to Kisangani, did not manage to successfully take off and crashed in to a heavily crowded market. The death toll is uncertain, according to CNN the first estimates were of 75 dead from the plane passengers and crew, later dropping to 18. There were 85 people on board (BBC News) including the crew and the death toll is expected to rise during the day. The EU had put the airliner on its black-list just one week ago.
