Burkina Faso’s national team defeated their Malian’s counterpart 2-1 in a friendly match played by exclusively local players in Bamako on Saturday. The Burkina team’s goals were scored in the 19th minute by Ibrahim Serme and 43r d minute by Issiaka Ouédraogo. The only Malian goal was scored in the 30th minute by Birahim Toure. The encounter was part of both teams’ preparations for the qualifiers of the first African Football Championship (CHAN), the finals of which would be held in Cote d’Ivoire in February 2009.
