In a meeting between the Dalai Lama and US special envoy Paula Dobriansky held in Michigan the 72 year old Dalai Lama asked for United States help according to Al Jazeera. He said he is fighting for the autonomy of Tibet and not independence and denied being behind the pro Tibet protests in Lhasa last month. China criticized this meeting considering it concerned Chinese internal affairs in which the United States have no word in.
